Short Story – Dead People are Supposed to Stay Dead by Julia Scott-Douglas

As you may be able to tell from the posts on my book review blog, I’m a tad obsessed with zombies. I think it’s because they scare me more than pretty much anything else. They actually give me nightmares.
So, here’s a very short zombie story for ya: Dead People are Supposed to Stay Dead by [...]

A Personal Note

After two days of half swine flu, half intense migraines, I am just about ready to go to bed and get another eight hour or so night of sleep.  In fact, the only reason I can type right now (albeit for only a short time) is due to the wonder drug Tylenol, which I have, [...]

Short Story – After the Bombs by Julia Scott-Douglas

A long, long time ago on a blog not very far away, I said I was getting my first short story – After the Bombs published.   The company who was going to publish this fabled story tragically folded and I was left with a story that my publisher and I had worked on for many, [...]

Short Story – The Game by Julia Scott-Douglas

Hey, so I’m trying something new. I’m going to start putting up short stories as Google Docs and will stick a link to the story on this blog. Eventually, when GoDaddy decides to help me out with my Wordpress upgrades, I’ll also provide a PDF for download and a Mobi doc.

Story Submission

I just submitted the story I mentioned in my previous post (Getting Gas) to Tales of World War Z.
I’ve also submitted a story I wrote called “Suicide Note” to Horror Garage.
So, we’ll see how all that goes. I recently lost my first reader.   So, we’ll see if I find another good one soon.
I’ve [...]

Friday, April 24 2009

I just finished a short zombie story called “Getting Gas”.  The first draft is 1,208 words.  I know writing a zombie story is probably cliche at this point, but you have to understand that zombies terrify me, so writing this story was no small task.  Anyway, next I have to do some edits and give [...]

Thursday, April 23

Okay, I finally got some writing done.  I got feedback on Desperation from my first reader (who shall remain nameless…)  and I finished the edits.   It is now an 1,820  word short story.  I am going to submit it to Writers of the Future.  Cross your fingers and wish me luck.  I get so [...]
